Boucle Beds - FAQs
A bouclé bed is an upholstered bed frame covered in bouclé fabric — a woven textile made from looped yarn that creates a curled, textured surface. It gives the frame a soft, tactile finish that works as a design feature in its own right, which is why it is most often used on statement headboards and full upholstered frames rather than as a plain backing fabric.
Yes. Upholstery-grade bouclé is a tightly woven fabric built for furniture use, and on a bed it takes far less abrasion than it would on a sofa seat. The frames in this collection are built on a solid internal frame with a supportive platform base, so the fabric is the finish rather than the structure. The main thing to protect against is snagging, not wear.
Vacuum weekly with a soft brush attachment on low suction, and blot any spills straight away with a clean, dry white cloth. Avoid rubbing, steam cleaners and bleach-based products, all of which flatten or discolour the loops. For a stubborn mark, use a small amount of upholstery foam cleaner spot-tested on a hidden area first.
Only with care. Bouclé is a looped fabric, so cat claws in particular can catch and pull threads. If you have a cat that scratches furniture, choose a flatter weave or a teddy fabric with a shorter pile instead. Dogs are generally less of a problem, though a throw over the foot end is worth using if your dog gets on the bed.
All frames in this collection are available in five UK sizes: Single (90 × 190cm), Small Double (120 × 190cm), Double (135 × 190cm), King (150 × 200cm) and Super King (180 × 200cm). Sizes are selected on each product page.
Yes. Most frames in this range, including the Archer, Cloud and Bubble beds, can be upgraded with an optional foot-end ottoman gas-lift storage system. This lifts from the base of the bed and gives you full-width hidden storage without changing the look of the frame. If you want storage as standard, see our Divan Ottoman Beds and Storage Beds collections.
They do, provided you keep the rest of the room simple. Bouclé reads as texture rather than pattern, so a light shade such as cream or oatmeal reflects light and makes a small room feel larger than a dark flat-fabric frame would. In a box room, a Single or Small Double with foot-end ottoman storage is the most space-efficient choice.
Every bouclé bed is made to order, with delivery in 10–15 working days to mainland UK addresses. You will be contacted to arrange a delivery date once your frame is ready.
